We are currently working with a prominent Hertfordshire based main contractor that undertake projects across London and the Southeast.
The company undertake projects in a variety of sectors including residential, commercial, healthcare, educations and sport.
They consistently deliver high quality projects for Local Authorities, Registered Providers, Commercial and Private organisations.
Project examples
- Regeneration: this scheme delivers 50+ affordable homes along with commercial units on the ground floor
- New homes: conversion of an office block into residential flats consisting of 70+ units over 5 storeys
- Commercial: refurbishment and extension of a 4-storey building to create a 5-storey office
- Education & sport: delivery of a new cricket pavilion for a live school environment
The Role
Our client is currently seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join their Hertfordshire-based team, focusing primarily on new-build residential projects.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of an established and financially stable contractor with a strong pipeline of work and a collaborative culture. The position offers flexible hybrid working, with two days per week working from home.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the preconstruction process from initial enquiry through to project handover, ensuring bids and proposals are commercially and technically robust.
Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage the preconstruction process for new-build residential schemes
- Coordinate tender submissions and bid strategies
- Review project documentation, drawings, and specifications
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Manage and coordinate design development during the preconstruction phase
- Identify project risks and opportunities, developing appropriate mitigation strategies
- Prepare and review cost plans, budgets, and value engineering proposals
- Support the estimating and commercial teams to deliver competitive and compliant tenders
- Ensure programmes, procurement strategies, and project delivery plans are aligned with client requirements
- Facilitate smooth handover of successful projects to the delivery team
