The Company

we are currently working with an Essex based Main contractor, that has been established for over 15 years; initially starting as a refurbishment and renovation specialist they have risen to undertaking multi million pound contracts across a broad range of sectors.

They undertake a diverse range of projects including refurbishment & fit outs, design and build, restoration, planned and cyclical maintenance with values ranging from £50k to £6 million.

Project examples:

  • Education - Remodel and extension of a school: works comprised of new build ground floor, external works, internal refurbishment, structural works, M&E installation, Value: £2+ million
  • Residential - New build affordable homes: This project was undertaken in a densely populated urban environment, the works included the demolition of existing garages, the development comprised of a 5-storey block of flats and two attached 3 storey houses
  • Commercial - CAT A Grade I listed renovation: 5 storey heritage building was renovated works included internal floor coverings, joinery and repairs to ceilings and walls along with M&E upgrades
  • Healthcare - Refurbishment of London hospital: This project was undertaken in a live environment and the works entailed the sub-division and refurbishment of the outpatient department and consultation rooms along with space for a new ward

The Role

Our client is currently looking for an experienced Senior Planner to join their office in Essex.

As the Senior Planner you will be responsible for providing strategic support to work-winning and project teams by leading the development and monitoring of efficient and effective programmes and logistics/phasing plans, ensuring the successful delivery of projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create, manage, and maintain project programmes using industry-standard software
  • Collaborate with bid teams to prepare tender programmes and phasing/logistics plans
  • Establish and maintain baseline programmes for live projects
  • Monitor progress against programmes, updating schedules as needed
  • Perform delay analysis and provide mitigation strategies to keep projects on track
  • Present programmes and updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and clarity
  • Identify potential risks and challenges in project delivery and propose mitigation measures
  • Develop and manage resource allocation plans to ensure efficient use of manpower, materials, and equipment
  • Guide and mentor junior planners, fostering professional growth within the team
  • Prepare and deliver regular progress reports to project and senior management
