Design Manager

The Company has in house teams of end to end development specialists in land acquisition, planning, design, construction and delivery all backed by one of the largest US real estate investment companies.

• Mixed used Development
Undertaking a development of close to 500 homes as well as commercial space through a joint venture with a partner
• Residential Development
Involves the development of close to 200 build to rent apartments across multiple buildings ranging in size, including communal courtyards build
The Role
Our client is currently seeking to recruit a Design Manager to working on Cladding and Cladding Remediation projects across East London.
The purpose of this role is to manage design subcontractors and consultants to ensure that designs and specifications are complete, in accordance with contract, statutory and building warranty requirements, are cost effective and provided in good time to meet project procurement and construction programme requirements.
Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Ensure that company health and safety policies are complied with at all times
• Contribute to the management and development of relationships with customers and project stakeholders
• Support the work winning team by providing advice on potential errors, omissions, and value engineering opportunities
• Take part in the tender handover process to gain a full understanding of the submitted tender and requirements of the contract
• Contribute to the production and maintenance of procurement summary, design release schedule and main contract deliverables
• Liaise with the commercial team to ensure designer appointment documents are robust and concluded promptly
• Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders regularly and involve parties as necessary to ensure prompt and effective resolution of issues to facilitate successful project completion
• Closely manage the design team to ensure that designs are developed which comply with contract, statutory and building warranty requirements, in a cost effective manner and to comply with project programme requirements
• Escalate concerns regarding designer performance failures to senior management to agree appropriate action plan and implement as required
• Support the project team to recover full entitlement in respect of customer changes and extensions of time
• Carry out project completion activities
