Trainee Quantity Surveyor

The Role
Our client is currently seeking to recruit a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to work under the guidance of a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Assisting with the day to day commercial aspects of property maintenance projects.
The purpose of this role is to assist with ensuring that procurement, reporting and other commercial functions are carried out in a timely manner.
Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Comply with the Company Health and Safety policy at all times, prioritizing safety above all other
considerations.
• Manage and develop relationships with customers and project stakeholders to promote the Company’s
good reputation.
• Participate in the tender handover process to understand the submitted tender and contract requirements
fully. Check contract documents prior to execution.
• Produce and maintain the following:
o Procurement Summary
o Prelims budget
o Valuation Schedule and Cashflow (entered on Connect)
o Design Release Schedule
o Information Required Schedule
o Main Contract Deliverables Schedule
• Execute commercial activities, including:
• Appointing designers and procuring subcontractors
• Obtaining bonds and special project insurances (e.g. 6.5.1)
• Liaising with the purchasing team for material procurement
• Conducting regular site visits and liaising with the site team to understand all site activities thoroughly
• Measuring and valuing subcontract and upline accounts, ensuring timely certification of valuations, active
cash flow management, and timely agreement of final accounts
• Producing customer progress reports
• Processing subcontract payments and ensuring timely issuance of payment/pay less notices
• Preparing accurate CVR reports
• Managing supply chain claims and preparing upline claim submissions
• Reviewing records regularly to ensure they are maintained by the project team to protect the Company’s
commercial position and escalating any concerns
• Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure prompt and effective resolution of issues for
successful project completion.
• Provide commercial support to the project team in managing contractual aspects, focusing on:
o Programme and extensions of time
o Efficient resource utilization
o Design development/value engineering
o Change management
o Defects management
• Execute commercial project completion activities, including:
• Agreeing subcontract and customer final accounts
• Reclaiming deposits
• Conducting post-contract review processes to ensure complete and accurate documentation, capturing
lessons learned, and entering supply chain performance ratings on Connect
• Develop your knowledge and capabilities relevant to your job role.
